FAQs

IK stands for Instituutsvereniging Kunsten, Cultuur en Media (Institute Society of Arts, Culture and Media). The Study Association emerged from the former SKABÉ. By the time, SKABÉ was the Study Association for the program Arts and Arts Policies in Groningen. The program changed into Arts, Culture and Media in September 2003. The students needed a new association that represented the recently founded program. It was, then, in the same year that IK began to act. Mariia, Marjolein, Kris, Tjarda, Femmy, Youri and Martijn together became the first board and, consequently, our founders.
See more of who we are here!

You can find the Board in the Harmony Building in Room 1311.0226. Check out this video if you are lost ;). Come and let us know what’s on your mind and we will be happy to help or simply chill with you!

You can terminate your membership via your member dashboard once you are logged-in. You can stop being an IK member every year. However, the membership fee for the current academic year will still be withdrawn from your bank account at the time you become an IK member. Keep in mind your membership won’t be cancelled automatically when you are done or quit studying Arts, Culture and Media or Arts History.

You can become a “Friend of IK”. As a Friend, you will receive some small benefits, such as access to our events with member prices, our monthly newsletter and certain updates which will help you stay informed about IK and ACM/AH. In addition, you will sponsor the association and help us continue doing what we do! If you would like to become a “Friend of IK” or have any questions, send us an email.

In order to be in a committee, you would have to be a member of IK. When you are a member, at the beginning of the school year the Association will announce applications for committees, so stay tuned ;). In the meantime, find our more about what each committee is responsible for here.
